People: Similar and Dissimilar

Situations are truly the test of time and it is when the true nature of people comes out. This is very important to understand as human fault lines are more common rather than stereotyped based on race or class or creed. I have found the below 3 situations in which some humans all around the world behave the same irrespective of being in developed or developing country, rich or poor, educated or uneducated and others. They are

  1. If there is a threat to oneself find a scapegoat
  2. If given power, make oneself the most safest
  3. If given choice, choose the most beneficial to oneself

Letโ€™s see how these works in real life

  1. If there is a threat to oneself find a scapegoat

This is so evident in every day life and can come in several forms. People, when their survival is threatened they put the blame on others. As described above, threat to survival can come in many forms like to sustain job in work place, when there is failure to execute a task and the blame is put on a scapegoat who maybe a junior or unsuspecting colleague. It can also take the form of a politician blaming the citizens for the inefficient governance. Another form is in the household where a strong spouse blamesโ€ฆ
